Political stakes high as Santa Barbara Democrats, Republicans rally on Labor Day

With the political stakes high in the upcoming Nov. 2 election, more than 200 Democrats gathered at Oak Park on Monday for the party’s annual Labor Day celebration.
Although parties typically gather on Labor Day to unite and strategize, this year’s event has taken on an even greater importance.
Democrats are looking to hold on the 35th District Assembly seat, currently held by Pedro Nava, who must step down because of term limits.
