Local sheriff’s detectives arrested actress Phyllis Lyons at her Studio City home yesterday after surveillance footage from a Montecito clothing store allegedly showed her stealing a pair of earrings valued at $688, authorities said.
Employees at the clothing store in the 500 block of San Ysidro Road noticed the earrings were missing from a display rack late last week, Sheriff’s Spokesman Drew Sugars said.
“A review of store surveillance tape revealed that on the preceding day, a customer had stolen the earrings,” he said in a news release. “One of the employees recognized the woman as a frequent customer.”
When detectives arrived at Lyons’ home, she was cooperative and returned the stolen earrings, authorities said. Detectives booked her at a police station in North Hollywood for grand theft, Sugars said.
The 48-year-old actress, who played minor roles in “The Bridges of Madison County” and Donnie Darko” and recently made appearances in television shows such as “24” and “House, M.D.,” was booked in lieu of $20,000 bail.
