Santa Barbara County Animal Services, in cooperation with several local animal adoption agencies, is hosting an adoption event over Valentine’s Day weekend called Share the Love Adoption.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 13 and Feb. 14 at all three of the county’s animal shelters. The public is invited, and organizers say the adoption could help county animal services work toward the goal of becoming a no-kill county.
A $14 discount will be offered on adoptions during the event, which will feature hundreds of homeless pets.
The Santa Barbara shelter is located at 5773 Overpass Rd. In Lompoc, a shelter is at 1501 W. Central and in Santa Maria, the shelter is at 548 W. Foster Rd.

Two cats are better than one! They play together, sleep together, entertain each other, and are fun to watch. If considering a cat, please get two! Same ages is best, i.e. two kittens or two teenagers or two older cats. That way energy level and interests in life match.

Once again, I think it is commendable for the Santa Barbara County Animal Services
to host an event that benefits animals; however, my point has always been, and I've
made this comment before, is that most landlords that can offer some of the affordable
rent here in Santa Barbara will not take animals, and those who do offer it to dogs
under 25 pounds and cats.....my dog is a sweetie, quiet and we are clean. She is an
aussie/border collie mix and I have slim options of where to live with her here in SB.

I agree that most landlords won't take pets. I've been in some property management offices and seen their entire listing of rentals when every one of them says "no pets". If landlords considered people w/ pets on a case-by-case basis (checked references) that should cover them.
