Authorities are looking into what caused a woman to drive a Range Rover through a wooden fence and plunge about six feet into the backyard of a Santa Barbara home yesterday.
No injuries were reported during the incident, which occurred just after noon in the rear lot of an apartment complex in the 3500 block of Richland Drive, although the driver appeared shaken by the apparent mishap.
City Fire Capt. Robert Hazel said the vehicle did some damage to property in the yard, including a plastic shed. Nobody was home at the time. The Range Rover, despite dropping from a considerable height, appeared to have sustained little damage.
“It looks pretty good,” Hazel said. “Those things are bulletproof.”

Range Rover year after year consistently ranks #1 for vehicle with the most reliability/defect issues. Google it! My neighbor had one and claimed he would spend an avg. of $700/mo. in maitenance/repairs. The atsronomical price for the proven track record of the lowest quality (British cars in general suck) = stupid enough to buy it = dumb enough to drive through a fence. In all fairness *when* they do work, they have excellent off-road capabilities...
Vedict: "Bullet proof"? pretty expensive "bullet proof" paper weight 6 out of 7 days a/wk.
