Police arrested a 54-year-old man after he allegedly stabbed another subject several times during a fight on Sunday and fled the scene.
At approximately 10:37 p.m., officers received reports of a fight in the 300 block of Ortega Street and arrived to find the 47-year-old victim suffering from stab wounds to the side of his face and his right shoulder, Sgt. Lorenzo Duarte said.
Witnesses reported that the victim had been in a fight with Ishmael Lopez when the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the younger victim. Although Lopez had fled the scene before officers arrived, authorities searched the area and found him on Castillo Street, Duarte said.
Police booked the 54-year-old for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. The victim was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, where he received treatment and was released.
