Police blotter — July 3

By DAILY SOUND STAFF — July 3, 2009

June 29, 12:30 p.m. — After receiving information that a wanted man was living in a van in the 900 block of San Pascual Street, police found the 21-year-old as described and took him into custody on an outstanding $100,000 warrant.

During the arrest, the suspect voluntarily admitted that he had hypodermic needles and liquid heroin in the van. Officers found the drugs as described in a compartment, along with the suspect’s 4-year-old daughter’s coloring pencils.

Since the drugs were easily accessible to the child, police booked the suspect for child endangerment and possession of heroin.

June 29, 1:15 p.m. — Police received reports of a strange man entering a home after the resident spotted him leaving. While investigating that complaint, officers learned a man matching the description had entered Harding Elementary School while children were present and attempted to hide in the office.

The 29-year-old claimed multiple pursuers were chasing him, but school staff couldn’t see anyone. Police arrived and determined the suspect was exhibiting symptoms of drug use. A urine test came back positive for methamphetamine, cocaine and other drugs.

Authorities booked the suspect on $2,500 bail for being under the influence of a controlled substance and noted his ongoing problem with drug-induced paranoia.

June 29, 7 p.m. — After stopping a vehicle in the 900 block of Quinientos Street for having an obstructed rearview mirror, police discovered the 25-year-old driver did not have a valid license.

A search of the vehicle revealed several bindles of suspected crystal meth, a meth pipe, a scale and a BB gun. Officers also found meth in the suspect’s possession. Authorities booked him on $30,000 bail for possession and transportation of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving without a valid license.

June 30, 8 p.m. — Officers stopped a vehicle along the 400 block of Old Coast Highway after the driver failed to yield at a stop sign. They recognized the 36-year-old behind the wheel as an active parolee and learned he had a suspended driver’s license.

During a search, authorities discovered 4.5 grams of cocaine and $165 in cash, leading them to book the suspect without bail for possession of cocaine for sale, driving on a suspended license and violating parole.

July 1, 7:50 a.m. — Called to the 900 block of Isleta Avenue on reports of a man disturbing the peace, police discovered a 52-year-old man screaming obscenities at his neighbors. Officers learned it was an ongoing problem in the neighborhood for the past 30 years.

Witnesses told police that the suspect had previously threatened to kill neighbors, vandalized parked cars and battered family members. One neighbor stated the 52-year-old arms himself with a 9mm handgun when he retrieves the newspaper.

Authorities, who noted the suspect was loud and obnoxious when they arrived, booked the man in lieu of $2,500 bail for disturbing the peace.

drugs are for loosers. police power is cool. all these arrest are kind and gentle! all are mexican illegals, which is good. now after a little rest in the poke, they also get a free ticket home.

When you read your post do you think it's as dopey as the rest of us do? Anyway, I wish The Daily Sound would include the names of the supects in the blotter. It feels like a big part of the story is missing without them.

Since the people arrested for drug possession almost always voluntarily tell the officers where their drugs are and let them search, I doubt the druggies know their rights. Which usually means illegal immigrant. At least they make the officers' jobs easy!
