Four-time academy award nominated actress Julianne Moore will receive the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s Montecito Award, festival officials announced.
The award, which in past years has been given to Kate Winslet, Javier Bardem, Naomi Watts and Annette Bening, was established in 2005 to recognize performers who have churned out consistently classic and standout performances.
“This four-time Oscar nominee is a cinematic treasure,” said Roger Durling, the festival’s executive director. “Her performances in “Boogie Nights,” “The End of the Affair,” “The Hours,” “Far From heaven,” and many others is the stuff of legends.”
Moore’s most recent project is “A Single Man,” in which she portrays a London socialite. The film premiered at the 2009 Venice Film Festival.
Moore’s long resume includes “Safe,” “Nine Months,” “The Big Lebowski,” and “Psycho.”
She received her first Oscar nomination in 1997 for her co-starring role in the film “Boogie Nights.” In 2003, after starring in “Far From Heaven,” and “The Hours,” she became the ninth woman Academy Award history to be nominated for two acting Oscars in the same year.
The award will be represented to Moore during a tribute ceremony at the Arlington Theatre on Feb. 11. The film festival, in its 25th year, runs from Feb. 4-14. Ticket information is available at www.sbfilmfestival.org.
