Police blotter — February 3
Jan. 29, 8:30 a.m. — Officers investigating a reported theft of furniture determined a 43-year-old woman had ripped off her 66-year-old landlord by selling off items from the apartment she was renting.
In July 2009, the suspect was renting an apartment in the 1100 block of N. Nopal Street that had been furnished with items that included an antique armoire valued at $3,000. The investigation revealed the suspect had sold off the armoire, and also took a table and chairs when she moved out.
Police tracked down the suspect at her new residence in the 1200 block of Mountain View Road and took her into custody. Officers found a glass meth pipe in her possession while making the arrest.
Authorities ultimately booked the 43-year-old for grand theft, elder abuse and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. Bail was set at $20,000.
Jan. 29, 4:46 p.m. — An officer driving east on Cota Street stopped for a red light behind an SUV at Santa Barbara Street and noticed a van that had stopped in the left turn lane. As the light changed, the SUV pulled forward and the van appeared to be waiting for traffic before turning.
When the officer began accelerating forward, the van suddenly pulled out of the turn lane directly in front of the squad car, forcing the officer to hit the brakes to avoid a collision. The officer pulled over the driver of the van and discovered the 39-year-old woman had a license that expired in 2004.
The woman said she had no insurance or a current license because she had no Social Security number. She refused to sign a notice to appear in court after being cited for the traffic violations, despite being told she would be arrested if she didn’t sign the citation.
Authorities booked the woman for making an unsafe lane change, driving without insurance or a valid license, and refusing to sign the citation. Bail was set at $2,500.
Jan. 29, 10:15 p.m. — An officer conducting a premises check of Ortega Park during its nightly closure came across a 39-year-old man. A records check revealed the suspect was wanted on several outstanding warrants for traffic-related violations and for failing to appear in court.
Police arrested the man and took him to county jail for booking. Custody deputies at the jail discovered a bindle of meth stashed between the man’s ankle brace and his sock. The suspect claimed he found the drugs in the park.
Authorities booked the man into jail for possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance in jail, and the outstanding warrants. Bail was set at $25,000.
Jan. 29, 11:13 p.m. — A domestic disturbance brought authorities to a residence in the first block of Langlo Terrace, where they learned that a young couple had been involved in an argument.
The woman told police she had been fighting with her boyfriend of six months when she attempted to leave the home in order to meet her parents’ curfew rule. The 22-year-old man blocked the doorway to prevent her from leaving.
The victim told she felt trapped and subsequently slapped her boyfriend in the face with an open palm. He responded with an open-handed slap of his own. Neither subject sustained visible injuries.
Police determined the physical contact resulted from the boyfriend’s actions and took him into custody for domestic battery and false imprisonment. Bail was set at $10,000.
Jan. 31, 2:45 a.m. — Police received reports of a man passed out in the street and discovered the 22-year-old as described, sprawled in the roadway in the 300 block of Chapala Street.
The suspect had a strong odor of alcohol, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and unsteady balance. Officers also found a set of brass knuckles in the man’s pocket, along with a cell phone that didn’t belong to him. Authorities booked the suspect for possession of an illegal weapon and public intoxication. Bail was set at $20,000.

Not one of the stories in the police reports say's anything about hispanics or illegals. Why do you continously post crap defending them? I can understand you being proud of your heritage but why bring up immigration if it doesnt pertain to anything written above? You also get knotted up when others post about hispanics and gang problems.
While I personally feel it is the hispanics and bangers that are responsible for the majority of violent crimes in this city, meth freaks also cause problems but usually non violent crimes to others.

Lets send the illegal Latino population to Iraq or Afghanistan if they survive they get a social security card. If you think people in Idaho and Montana are going to learn to speak Mexican Spanish you must really be on that white stuff. being six foot one just makes you stand out more at 2500 yards. The thing that Central America does well, is keeping Middle Eastern people from crossing the Mexican boarder. That would hurt the drug business, if a terrorist got in through Mexico. The reason some state constitutions are bilingual is because of the great lack of education of which some of these people migrate from. it is cheaper to put it into two languages then it is to educate the new population of people that dont even have a foundation in there native language.
