Stratus Media Group, Inc., a Santa Barbara-based live entertainment company, announced this week William Kelly has been appointed as chief operating officer of both Stratus Media Group and ProElite Inc.
Kelly previously held the position of chief operating officer of ProElite from its inception until October 2008.
"Due to Stratus’ plans for rapid growth over the next year, we identified the need to hire a person of exceptional talent and experience as COO to manage the daily operations of both our existing companies and the integration of newly acquired companies and events,” said Paul Feller, president and chief executive officer of Stratus, in a news release. “In addition to his experience at ProElite and his knowledge of the (Mixed Martial Arts) business, Kelly’s background is an ideal fit for our requirements and we are happy to have such a valuable addition to our team.”
Kelly brings more than two decades of entertainment and media operations and management experience to Stratus.
Kelly co-founded Television Korea 24 Inc. in 2003, where he served as COO. In 2001, Kelly joined the Extreme Sports Channel as international COO.
A native of Ireland, Kelly holds various qualifications in banking, international business and foreign languages.
Incorporated in November of 1998, Santa Barbara based-Stratus Media Group is an owner, operator and marketer of live entertainment and sporting events.
ProElite said it holds the record for highest ratings for a network telecast of a Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA, event. The company owns a Web portal with social networking for MMA fighters and fans and live streams of MMA bouts not broadcast on television.
