"SB Activist" (who is no doubt an out of State transplant), starts with his/ her "racist" rhetoric to anyone who challenges the fact that we cannot afford to continue an "open border" policy... From our over burdened school system, Over crowded Emergency Rooms, Health Clinics, Subsidized housing (section 8), Food Debit cards (Foodstamps were too degrading, now people get a "card"), Non insured and non licensed drivers, Jails occupied with ILLEGAL alien Gang memebers, the list goes on and on... The FACT is our taxes are no longer able to support our infrasturctures like they once did here in California, subsequently, our quality of life is deminished and everyone is afraid to say the "KING isn't wearing any clothes..." Why? because a small % of individuals shout the "racist" card and the mainstream media and everyone else is afraid of "political correctness". Let's be clear; Our system that grants citizenship to any non U.S. citizen at birth is flawed at best and needs to be amended to bring about change. This provision was intended when our country was in the growth stages some 200 years ago. NO other country in the world has such a provision... You can't blame third world peasants that live in Mexico and Central America for trying to cross and have babies here-they are rewarded! Bottom line is the taxpayer fund "pie" has only so many slices to cover everything that "government " has become... There just isn't any more "pie" left.

I responded that, to the contrary, judging by it they are a bad element that we can do without. OK, just to see how our excitable friend responds, here's my solution to the illegal alien mess. 1) End automatic citizenship through birth, 2) Seal the borders, 3) Strongly punish any business that hires illegals, 4) Require proof of legal residence for social services. That way you cut off the flow of new illegals and discourage the current ones from sticking around. No extra mass deportations needed, just time & patience while they go back on their own.

The question we need to ask is not CAN we, but SHOULD we. Why should we do it? Because they want to be here to make more money than they can at home? There are a few billion people on the planet who would like the same -- should we allow all of them in too? I'll tell you what at least makes them different: they were willing to break our laws to come here! Well, Roy1984, I can't feel a huge amount of sympathy for people who willing break our laws. Sorry. Obviously it can't be that bad for illegals here, though, since they stick around & keep coming. And if you reply that it just shows how bad things are back home, the fact is things will never improve there so long as the corrupt Mexican elites have illegal immigration as a relief valve. Sending the discontented poor here reduces social unrest in Mexico, as does the money they send back while also propping up their economy. Why risk their cushy lifestyles when they can shove their problems onto the gringos up north? The simple fact is that there's no excuse for Mexico's economy being as stunted as it is. They have plenty of labor, good farmland, two productive oceans, lots of mineral resources, OIL, great tourism areas, a huge trading partner next door, etc, etc. But all of that will remain stagnant while the ruling elite feels little pressure to change. Sending Mexican illegals back home will be tough-love for their homeland. Why do you want to rob Mexico of its potential, Roy?

Lupe has a free ambulance ride to the hospital, free ER visit, then a free stay at the NeoNatal ward. Lupe and Pedro are now eligible for subsidized housing, Food deit card, and anytime Segundo (Jr.) has a minor cough or fever, Lupe will call 911 for another free abulance ride to the ER. Now Segundo is eligible to go to the "headstart" preschool for FREE... John and Alice are still paying for their son Joey's birth at Cottage Hospital and Alice has to go back to work. Joey is going to the same preschool as Segundo, but Alice and John are paying $8.00 an hour for preschool.... Alice and John don't qualify for section 8 housing like Lupe and Pedro. They are paying big bucks to rent an Apt, pay for food, preschool and health insurance as well as save for Joey's college fund... Those poor Illegal aliens... GOD, Please help them...

Well, it seems to me that if the US is such an utter hellhole of oppression for illegals, then the best protection of all would be to NEVER COME HERE in the first place. No racist oppression AND no "huge sacrifices" to get here -- sounds like a winning plan to me! Yes, God bless them! They are our brothers & sisters and deserve respect and good treatment. But part of that respect must be demanding equal accountability from them, and not allowing them to abuse our generosity.
