In honor of the legacy of Herb Peterson, famed inventor of the Egg McMuffin and local resident who died last year, McDonald’s restaurants along the Central Coast will celebrate the second annual Herb Peterson Day on January 5.
Five years after opening the first of six McDonald’s franchises in Santa Barbara and Goleta, Peterson created the Egg McMuffin as a tribute to his favorite breakfast item, eggs benedict.
The breakfast sandwich became the staple of the restaurant’s morning offerings across the country within several years. The first Herb Peterson Day took place in January 2009, on what would have been his 90th birthday.
On January 5, local residents are invited to celebrate the launch of breakfast at McDonald’s by picking up an Egg McMuffin sandwich during breakfast hours for $1 each — with a limit of five per customer.
More information about the celebration and a list of local McDonald’s restaurants is available at www.mcdonaldscentralcoast.com. Restaurant officials also noted that a new book titled “The Good Egg” chronicling Peterson’s life is available for purchase online or at any of the six McDonald’s in Santa Barbara and Goleta.

Nothing like taking credit for something you didn't invent! It has been a long running joke among ex-workers that Herb NEVER invented the Egg Mcmuffin. BUT I'm sure his son has lots of facts to back up Dads lengendary status in breakfast history.

Soon there will be warnings on each McDonald package "Warning: Eating this may be hazardous to your health", then upgraded to "Eating this WILL be hazardous to your health". Lawsuits will follow and people will win big judgements for all kinds of related health issues. McDonalds will have to pay big payments to health treatments such as diabetes and pay for commercials to promote healthy eating .
At the end McDonalds will take it's place in history alongside the tobacco industry.
Everyone knows that food is bad for you, so why are we still eating it?

To the "dietician"... Shut up and go eat your soggy tofu and alfalfa sprouts. Don't forget to take your B vitamin and iron supplements so that you don't look as though you are a complete zombie.

Whatever you think, Herb was a great philanthropist. No one is forcing you to go there. And ask any Mom who swore before she had kids she would never let her kids watch TV or go to McDonald's.....all things in moderation.
Stop bashing .
