The Bank of America at 1906 Coast Village Rd. in Montecito was robbed yesterday by man who authorities said handed a teller a note asking for cash, and then told her he was armed.

The robbery occurred just before 5 p.m. and a Santa Barbara Police Department spokeswoman said the suspect, a white man in his 50s, took $2,000.

Though the man claimed to have a gun, the spokeswoman said no weapon was seen. She said the suspect had a gray goatee and was wearing prescription glasses. He left through a back door, which exited to a parking lot.
