The October issue of Vanity Fair, with Jacqueline Kennedy on the cover, has some humdinger stories in it, including one about the former First Lady and the author William Manchester. But it’s another feature that has Santa Barbara tongues wagging, “Good Billions After Bad” is an expose about how more than a quarter of trillion dollars of TARP funds given out by the U.S. Treasury were handed out to banks without “restrictions, accountability or even common sense.” Our town made the story---but n ...

Not only did Santa Barbara (and yours truly) catch a glimpse of the great actress Meryl Streep in town on location filming the yet-to-be-named Nancy Meyer's flick, but the actress appears as our town's beloved Julia Child in the summer film, “Julia and Me” based on the book of the same title. Remember Queen Latifah as Matron “Mama” Morton in the movie “Chicago” when she sang “When you’re good to mama, mama’s good to you!”? Well Julia Pace Mitchell is one hot mama who is good to her audience and her stage performance as Nia (and seven other characters) in Ensemble Theatre’s “In The Continuum” is stunning.
